Mulberry Farming

The Mulberry plants are an integral part of the silk industry. When the larvae emerge from the eggs laid by the silk moths, they feed exclusively on the leaves from the mulberry plant. From approximately one ounce of silk moth eggs, 30,000 worms are produced. These worms in turn eat about a ton of mulberry leaves and can produce about 12 pounds of raw silk material.
